Cabinet for Health Services Budget Shortfall:
The Legislature enacted a budget that
includes a $40+ million deficit in the Cabinet's
budget. The Cabinet Secretary is authorized to
make cuts and move funds among budget units to erase
the deficit. Exact impact upon the Department
for Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities Services is not
yet know. Cuts in funding to MH/MR
Comprehensive Care Boards (e.g. Seven Counties) are
anticipated.

Replacement of Eastern State Hospital Approed:
In addition to approval of the $100+
million in bonds to construct a new psychiatric
facility, a 12 bed post-acute intensive
rehabilitation unit shall be established for person
with acquired brain injuries.
